Goodness in Every Colour
Goodness in Every Colour refreshes the benefits of melons for healthcare professionals.
iDENTIFY the issue
Melons contain a wide variety of colour-associated bioactive pigments, but the importance of this was unclear.
iNVESTIGATE the opportunity
How could we determine the significance of the colour-associated bioactive pigments in melons?
“Eat the rainbow” is a common nutrition truism - universally endorsed by dietitians and nutritionists as a good way to ‘cover your bases’, but it lacks scientific substantiation.
iMPLEMENT solutions
We proved for the first time why we should “eat a rainbow of colour” by publishing a scientific review on the benefits of colour variety, and developed a Goodness in Every Colour campaign that positioned melons as the hero rainbow fruit to health professionals.
The iMPACT we created
As part of a world-first rainbow nutrition story, we used end-to-end research and education, with credible science and communication, to empower healthcare professionals with new reasons to talk about melons.
The paper was downloaded more than 8,000 times in the first six months of publication and was in the top 5% of all research outputs.
A webinar featuring Dr Flav and chef, author, and media broadcaster Alice Zaslavsky brought together the science and the joy of cooking with colour, alongside food-based and practical messaging.
Attendee feedback
“I love the concept of changing the boring terms of eating 5+2 to focus on eating the rainbow every day. This is very useful for clients and even for my own diet.”
